Tim Knue has filed as a candidate in the race for the Position 1, District 10 seat in the state House of Representatives, according to Island County elections staff.

Knue, a Democrat who unsuccessfully tried to unseat 10th District Rep. Barbara Bailey in the 2006 election, is challenging Republican Norma Smith for the House seat. Smith was appointed to the Position 1 seat earlier this year as a replacement for former Rep. Chris Strow.

In the Position 2, District 10 seat in the House, Ann McDonald has filed as a candidate.

McDonald joins fellow Democrat Patricia Terry in the race. Bailey is expected to file as a candidate in the race before the filing period ends on Friday. Bailey’s entrance into the race will mean a three-way primary race in August, with the top two finishers advancing to the general election in November.

At least one primary race is already guaranteed; in the District 10 Senate race. Republican Linda Haddon, incumbent Democrat Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen, and America’s Third Party candidate Sarah Hart are all in the running.
