“New officers took over the helm of the Langley Chamber of Commerce at a general membership and installation dinner Tuesday night at Guiseppe’s restaurant.Melissa Saylors, general manager of The South Whidbey Record, is the new president. She replaces Sybil Yates who was presented a gift for her hard work in the office.Other new officers are Joanne Lechner, vice president and owner of the Eagle’s Nest bed and breakfast; Virginia LaRue, treasurer and owner of Virginia’s Antiques; and Kelley Choate, secretary and owner of Museo.Thirty-seven chamber members attended the dinner. The new president was presented the key to the Chamber of Commerce office. Saylors said her goal is to increase and diversify chamber membership beyond its retail core by reaching out to service and professional businesses. And, of course, there’s the budget. Fund raising is always important, she said.”
