The Langley City Council approved the payment Monday of the city’s share of a $125,000 settlement to a former public works employee who claimed he was fired because of his age.
Langley will pay $25,000 of the settlement, with the city’s insurance pool covering the remaining $100,000.
The council unanimously agreed last month to the settlement that would put an end to the superior court lawsuit from Frank Sullivan.
Sullivan, 68, filed a $4.5 million damage claim against the city in March, and said he was discriminated against because of his age and that Langley officials violated the city’s personnel policy manual when they terminated his employment in late 2010. He later filed suit.
