The Langley City Council will take up the controversial Langley Passage housing development at its meeting tonight.

The council meets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 20, at city hall on Second Street. A public council workshop begins at 4 p.m.

The council, in a closed record hearing, will review the Planning Advisory Board’s recommendation that the project’s preliminary plat be rejected.

The council also will consider five appeals filed against the PAB’s review of the project.

The PAB has recommended that the appeals be denied.

The plan for the 20-lot development, in the works since 2006, calls for two- and three-bedroom homes on 8.52 acres in the Edgecliff neighborhood between Edgecliff Drive and Sandy Point Road.

City planning staff has recommended that the project be approved, saying it would pose no additional danger to the nearby bluff and fits with Langley’s zoning and building rules.
