Langley will deck its doors in fine art style for the holidays to benefit the Good Cheer Food Bank.

The Langley Main Street Association, with the help of downtown merchants, is hosting “Deck The Doors.” More than 50 businesses will elaborately decorate their doors to compete with their neighbors.

Beginning Friday, Nov. 25, voters can begin “stuffing the ballot boxes” with pennies — or dimes, quarters and dollar bills — and the door that brings in the most money will be the winner.

Votes will be counted Saturday, Dec. 17, with the winning door announced Sunday, Dec. 18.

“Downtown Langley loves collaborative energy for the holidays,” said Janet Ploof, president of the Main Street group.

“We’re glad to be partnered with Good Cheer for the good cheer of all this year. Holiday dinners are special and Good Cheer has been making hundreds of families’ holidays special for many years,” she said.

The business that collects the most money will have the entire amount collected throughout town during the contest donated in their name to the food bank just in time for holiday food distribution.

Organizers of the event note that more than 800 South Whidbey families are served through Good Cheer each month.
