A public forum on healthcare reform, with an emphasis on a single-payer approach, will be next week in Langley.

The forum, sponsored by a new group, Island County Activists for Single Payer (ICASP), will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, in Langley United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall. The church is at Anthes Avenue and Third Street.

Featured speaker will be Paul Menzel, a philosophy professor at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, with a slide presentation by Dr. Marshall Goldberg of Oak Harbor, ICASP coordinator.

The forum is being organized by musician and educator Heidi Hoelting of Clinton.

ICASP is a grassroots volunteer group of Whidbey Island healthcare professionals and others who advocate a single-payer, universal healthcare system for all Americans.
