Langley man inducted into University of Oklahoma hall of fame

Langley resident and Oklahoma native Perry Lovelace was recently inducted into the University of Oklahoma College of Education Hall of Fame after 50 years of innovation in education and teaching.

Langley resident and Oklahoma native Perry Lovelace was recently inducted into the  University of Oklahoma College of Education Hall of Fame after 50 years of innovation in education and teaching.

With over 22,000 graduates, only around 100 alumni are in the hall of fame.

“It’s a pretty special group of people in honor,” Lovelace said.

Lovelace taught over 15,000 students in his classes,  ranging from seventh-graders to working professionals. Most of his career was in Oklahoma, teaching a variety of subjects including basic science and math, biology, ecology, environmental stewardship, renewable energy, energy management, project management, technical facilities, maintenance and leadership skills for technical professionals.

He is also a founding member of the Western Washington Solar Energy Association and created and taught the conversation and renewable energy curriculum that leads to an associate’s degree at Edmonds Community College.
