A Langley man was killed Friday in a single-car rollover accident.

A Langley man was killed Friday in a single-car rollover accident, according to Washington State Patrol.

Trent McNeal, 47, was driving on East Harbor Road in Langley in a Ram pickup truck when he left the roadway to the right and struck a power pole and a tree. The truck rolled and came to a rest on its side on the right shoulder. The collision occurred shortly after 11 p.m. July 14.

McNeal was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. There is early indication that a medical emergency may have contributed to the collision, Trooper Kelsey Harding wrote in an email.

According to the state patrol report, McNeal was not wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle was totaled and impounded.

McNeal was a heavy equipment operator with a deep love for the outdoors. An avid dirt bike rider, McNeal also enjoyed hunting and camping. He is survived by his longtime partner and other family members on the island, according to the Island County Coroner’s Office.
