Langley Middle School gears up for new school year

Parents and guardians are reminded that all new students coming into the South Whidbey School District must bring immunization records.

All sixth-graders are required to have a second MMR and varicella immunizations. Varicella is commonly known as chicken pox. If the student has had chicken pox, the date of the disease is all that’s required.

Students previously enrolled in the district can pick up class schedules from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27 or 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday,

Aug. 28.

Physical education uniforms for $14 and student assignment planners for $4 also will be available.

A special sixth-grade parent-student orientation is 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, to meet teachers, go through class schedules and receive locker assignments.

Meanwhile, all seventh- and eighth-grade students interested in turning out for cross country, football or volleyball must have proof of physicals and athletic forms turned into the school office the morning of the first turnout.

Football begins Monday, Aug. 25 and volleyball on Wednesday, Sept. 3.

Cross country begins Thursday, Sept. 4, with optional practices Aug. 25, Aug. 27, Aug. 29, Sept. 2 and Sept. 3.

Sports fees and ASB cards, price yet to be determined, can be paid before the first athletic event, officials said.
