Langley’s noise ordinance is likely to go unchanged after a Planning Advisory Board meeting Wednesday.

Several residents who live near Mo’s Pub and Tavern, the source of the ordinance’s creation, attended the meeting, as did several supporters of owner Maureen Cooke’s request to allow more low-amplification performances. The pub is located next to several single-family residences and faced complaints of rowdy nightlife and excessive noise from bands performing inside.

“I think they felt comfortable with the ordinance that was passed,” said Jeff Arango, Langley’s planning director.

The lack of a recommendation to make amendments to the ordinance, which allows for six permitted live, amplified performances per year for a venue adjacent to single-family residences, means the city council has no proposal to hear or vote on, though the council may discuss the issue at its next meeting Sept. 3.
