Langley sewer rates to be discussed

Current base bi-monthly rates for residents are $60.16 and volume rates are $1.45 per 100 gallons for an average bill of $100.72. Base rates in 2016 are expected to reach $72.19, while volume rates will be $1.77 for an average bill of $120.87; in 2017, base rates will be $86.63, volume rates $2.12 for an average bill of $144.93; in 2018 base rates will be $103.96, volume rates of $2.54 for an average bill of $173.81.

Commercial base rates are currently $69, volume rates are $1.635 and an average bill is $113.96. Base and volume rates will increase to $82.80 and $1.83, respectively, while an average bill is expected to reach $136.70.

Projects to be completed immediately include pump station improvements (costing $236,200), sewer pipeline rehabilitation and replacement ($1 million), wastewater treatment plan remediation ($161,000) and an emergency generator ($186,400).
