Langley’s hand-carved sign gets new home

The carved sign that once greeted visitors at the junction of Langley and Maxwelton Roads has a new home at the Langley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors’ Center.

The carved sign that once greeted visitors at the junction of Langley and Maxwelton Roads has a new home at the Langley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors’ Center. Originally carved and painted by the late Glen Russell, a Greenbank sign maker, the wooden sign was commissioned by the Langley Chamber of Commerce many years ago. In its old location, it was difficult to see the details of the waterfront and mountain scene. Chamber member Cynthia Tilkin sanded, repainted and preserved the wooden sign. In its new location, the details of the rustic carving can be seen more clearly.
