Are you a SNAP or a Sesior or WIC customer? Are you a farmer who sells produce or honey at a farmers’ market? Do you work with low-income community members?
Join South Whidbey Tilth Tuesday, April 11, for a free workshop to explain how the new Farmers Market Nutrition Program, or FMNP, works at farmers’markets. No more paper vouchers; customers get digital cards to redeem good food. Growers must have applied by April 1 (new growers by July 1) and have a digital reader.
Cameron Akita with Washington State Department of Social and Health Services is joining Tilth to review the FMNP program and answer questions. The event begins at 2 p.m. at Island Senior Resources (Bayview), 14594 Highway 525, Langley. Come to the Fireside Room and get your questions answered.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Market Match program continues. Both the Bayview and South Whidbey Tilth Farmers Markets accept SNAP EBT and offer Market Match currency for fresh fruits and vegetables, up to a $25 match per visit. Growers do not have to apply to this program, only farmers markets themselves. This free program is hosted by South Whidbey Tilth and Island Senior Resources.
