South Whidbey @ Home, a new non-profit group aimed at helping people age in place, will hold a second public meeting next week.

Participants will learn how the fledgling organization will work and hear from Janice Dilworth, founding director of the Phinney Ridge Village in Seattle. She will discuss how the Village operates in the real world and what the benefits are to members, volunteers, local businesses and the community.

The meeting is 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4 at The Clyde Theatre in Langley.

Organizers will also ask potential service volunteers at the meeting about the kinds of help they’d like to offer to group members.

Over the next few months, South Whidbey @ Home committees will learn new software, create policies and procedures, work on financial information, design training programs, create materials for membership and volunteer recruitment, put together a website, and brainstorm ideas for fundraising and for member social and educational events, according to the group’s October members report.
