Levy lid lift resolution going on August ballot

South Whidbey Fire/EMS approved a resolution for a levy lid lift this past Friday.

During a special meeting, fire commissioners unanimously approved the measure, allowing it to be placed on the ballot for the Aug. 4 primary election.

The fire district is proposing a 30-cent increase, from 65 to 95 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value.

If voters approve the levy lid lift, it would provide support to hire additional emergency personnel and to replace aging apparatus.

COVID-19 has resulted in unexpected expenses for the district.
