Part two of all-parish meeting at St. Augustine’s
At St. Augustine’s in-the-Woods this Sunday, the adult forum is part two of the all-parish meeting.
The purpose of this gathering is to give the congregation an opportunity to review the Annual Report for 2008, and then to review, discuss and hopefully approve the annual operating budget for 2009.
The Rev. Nigel Taber-Hamilton presides.
The adult forum begins at 9:05 a.m. Sunday.
Genesis series continues at South Whidbey church
Co-Pastor Darrell Wenzek will deliver tomorrow’s sermon at South Whidbey Community Church, continuing his series from the book of Genesis.
His sermon title is, “Get Ready for a Storm,” based on Genesis 6:14-22, describing conditions preceding the Great Flood.
Wenzek has pastored other churches in California and he holds a graduate degree from Western Theological Seminary, in Portland, Ore.
SWCC offers a wide variety of gifted and educated speakers at Sunday morning worship services. Both the church and all its speakers adhere to the National Association of Evangelicals Statement of Faith.
Each worship service begins at 10 a.m., and is preceded at 9 a.m. by two adult learning forums: one is a study of the Old Testament book of 1st Samuel, led by Rick Zapata; the other a study of the book of Acts, led by Stan Walker. Midweek Bible studies continue in the Gospel of Luke, at 7 p.m. Wednesdays, led by Art Angst at the home of Rick and Dinah Zapata.
All SWCC sermons are recorded, and copies on CD-R, or e-mailed in Windows audio attachments may be obtained by calling 221-8365.
South Whidbey Community Church is open to everyone and gathers for worship each Sunday at the Deer Lagoon Grange, 5142 Bayview Road, Langley.
The church is a newly-formed independent, evangelical and non-denominational church. For more information on the church and services, visit www.swcchurch.wordpress.com/.

Unity of Whidbey welcomes guest speaker Joanna Gabriel on Sunday, who will talk about smiles as the mark of our close connection with Spirit.
Gabriel, an ordained minister, has supported the work of Neale Donald Walsch, the author of the “Conversations With God.” She will speak of radiant smiles as expressions of our unity with the God Self within.
Unity meets at 10 a.m. at Bayview Community Hall. All are welcome.
Unitarian Universalists stand on the side of love
At the Sunday service for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island, Rev. Kit Ketcham will consider the third Unitarian Universalist principle, “acceptance of each other and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations,” and how love is the catalyst that makes this principle meaningful.
There will also be a child dedication ceremony at this service.
The service is at 10 a.m. Sunday at 20103 Highway 525, just north of Freeland. All are welcome. Values-based children’s religious exploration classes and childcare will be provided. Check www.whidbey.com/uucwi for more information.
