Locke honored for years of service | KUDOS

Katie Locke, of Clinton, received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for her service at the M-Bar-C Ranch in Freeland. Dale Kerslake, volunteer/program director, presented the award.

Katie Locke, of Clinton, received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for her service at the M-Bar-C Ranch in Freeland. Dale Kerslake, volunteer/program director, presented the award.

The ranch is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting old-fashioned fun through the cowboy spirit. It provides a safe place where physical and mental limitations can be overcome.

Locke has been volunteering for four years. She helps special needs children learn about the joy of riding a horse. She has also helped at the day camps during the summer.

Locke has spent every summer and countless hours working with the children and helping with maintenance at the ranch.

Locke is a recent graduate of South Whidbey High School. She is the daughter of Charles and Val Locke.
