Low weekend tides bring smiles to faces

"There's nothing Whidbey Islanders love more than a low tide, and for many this will be their happiest weekend of the year."

“There’s nothing Whidbey Islanders love more than a low tide, and for many this will be their happiest weekend of the year.Today, Saturday, the tide dips to an impressive minus 3.4 feet at about noon, and tomorrow it bottoms out for the year’s lowest tide at minus 3.5 feet. The time and tide vary a bit depending upon which side of the island you’re on, but the low tides occur roughly at noon each day. Islanders love to dig clams at low tides, and the extreme tides this weekend will expose those elusive geoducks and a host of other sea creatures.”
