An up and coming magician, who will make his television debut this month on the CW Network’s “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” is bringing his act to the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts (WICA) stage.

Sixteen-year-old Matthew Laslo’s high-energy performance is set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27. His shows have earned him awards and a TV appearance with the iconic “Penn & Teller,” which airs at 8 p.m. on Aug. 31. Laslo was the youngest performer chosen from hundreds on contestants to feature in the show, which is performed in front of a live Las Vegas audience.

Laslo performs both close up tricks and illusions and has experience performing in front of crowds. When he was 9 years old, he filled in for a magician who cancelled for a local event, and he says he’s been hooked ever since.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.wicaonline.org, at the WICA box office or by calling (360) 221-8268. Box office hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets cost $15.
