Motorists should expect delays at Deception Pass Bridge next week, the Washington State Department of Transportation announced Friday.

Bridge maintenance crews will close one lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3 and Wednesday, May 4 for the bridge’s annual washing. Routinely cleaning the bridge keeps it from corroding and makes it easier to inspect, according to the release. Flaggers will alternate traffic through the area.

“Drivers may experience delays up to 15 minutes,” the release said.

Area drivers can get real-time traffic information on smart phones with the agency’s traffic app; they can also track traffic via a Twitter feed, and get advance information from the agency’s What’s Happening Now page, www.wsdot.wa.gov/construction/pugetsound/today.htm
