A 52-year-old man refused to leave an Oak Harbor hotel and then assaulted two police officers, according to court records.

Prosecutors charged Robert L. Parker, who is identified as a transient, in Island County Superior Court with two counts of assault in the third degree and criminal trespassing in the first degree.

The owner of the inn reported on March 12 that he wanted police to issue a trespass warning to a man, later identified as Parker.

Parker told officers that has name was “Bobby Ricky” and that he was staying at the hotel with a woman, though he would not give her last name, according to an officer’s report on the incident.

The hotel owner said Parker did not have a room and that he had taken a key from the key box. The man asked for police to remove him from the hotel.

An officer spoke to Parker at great length, but he refused to leave, the report states. Finally, the officer told Parker he was going to be arrested for trespassing.

Parker allegedly swung an arm at the officer, but the officer was able to take him to the ground. Parker kicked another officer in the leg and attempted to wrap his leg around the officer’s legs, the report states. He later kicked another officer while being searched, the report states.

The state Department of Corrections had a warrant for Parker for allegedly escaping from community custody, court documents state.
