Two women in Freeland have joined forces to give islanders an all-around healthy approach to wellness.
Roxana Jimenez, a licensed massage therapist, and Spring of Spring’s Hair Salon are now working together at the salon’s Freeland location on 1635 Main St.
Jimenez is a “medical missionary†and has traveled around the world teaching simple health principles.
She believes that God has given each individual eight “doctors†— water, air, exercise, nutrition, spirituality, rest, temperance and sun. By utilizing the health principles, she said, people can become whole.
“All of these things are provided to the rich and the poor. It’s up to us to use them,†Jimenez said.
“If we carefully preserve the life force, and keep the delicate mechanism of the body in order, the result is health,†she said.
Jimenez was trained at Lia International School of Health and Education in Ullared, Sweden and is a specialist in hydrotherapy. She offers Swedish and lymphatic massage, as well as a honey detoxifying massage for cleansing the body or unclogging pores.
Spring is happy to work with Jimenez.
“She has a heart of gold and a handshake of steel,†she said. Spring described Jimenez as a knowledgeable professional who is also a source of inspiration.
Clients are impressed, too.
Denise McLaughlin of Freeland said Jimenez’s mind and body approach has her convinced.
“She’s an incredible massage therapist and I have been through a number of them on the island and off. She does incredible deep tissue massages and she is very strong,†McLaughlin said.
“I really believe in what she’s doing. It’s been amazing for my health. I’ve been really flabbergasted by her expertise,†she added.
Together Spring and Jimenez offer all-around wellness. Spring continues to offers hair styling, cuts and non-toxic color treatments.
Spring will host “An Evening of Wellness†to inform people about alternative ways to feeling healthy and beautiful at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10. Singer Beverly Graham will entertain and Jimenez will speak about her experience and approach to health.
