The Island County Public Health Department has introduced its newest vehicle into the fleet, a van that was acquired without cost from Island Transit through the agency’s community surplus grant program.

“This van will be a fabulous way for us to provide direct outreach to the community,” said Suzanne Turner of the public health department. “We are thankful to our many community partners for this excellent opportunity.”

Once the van was received, community members provided donations to cover the cost of painting. Westar Solutions, a Burlington-based business, provided free labor for the van’s vivid paint job.

“Island County public health officials are excited to have a bright and mobile presence throughout the county, providing health education and basic screening at locations throughout our community,” Turner said.
