New Public Works director starts job in Langley

Stan Berryman was introduced as the new director of Langley’s Public Works department at a city council meeting on Monday.

Berryman, a longtime Colorado resident with public works experience in Aspen, Vail and Telluride, was hired after former director Maria Cablao resigned in December.

“The towns of Vail, Telluride and Aspen have very similar dimensions to what we have here,” said Mayor Fred McCarthy.

McCarthy noted the population sizes, tourism and arts communities that exist in those cities in Colorado, where Berryman led the public works departments.

“I’m looking forward to the challenges,” said Berryman, who enters the job as Langley begins a major overhaul of Second Street in the downtown core this month. “You don’t have any snow though.”
