Saint Hubert Church’s council of the Knights of Columbus held its ninth annual potato drive for South Whidbey food bank charities on Saturday, Nov. 1.

Maple Wood Farms in Mount Vernon donated 12,000 pounds of potatoes which were transported to Saint Hubert Catholic Church in Langley by Hanson’s Building Supply in Langley.

According to Robert DiGirolamo, Grand Knight, this year’s drive was “a huge success.”

The Knights of Columbus and parishioners from Saint Hubert, as well as members of the Mobile Turkey Unit, began bagging the potatoes into 10 pound bags at 10 a.m. By noon, all potatoes had been delivered to local food banks including Good Cheer Food Bank, the Senior Center of South Whidbey, Mobile Turkey Unit of South Whidbey, Island Church Soup Kitchen and Saint Hubert Catholic Church.
