Oak Harbor man killed in crash at Deception Pass Bridge

An Oak Harbor man was killed in a head-on collision near Deception Pass Bridge Saturday morning, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The reports states that 28-year-old Destin D. Jackson was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta south on Highway 20, approaching the bridge at a high rate of speed, a trooper’s report states.

Jackson’s vehicle crossed the centerline at a curve in the road and struck an oncoming 1999 Acura driven by 19-year-old Jadin Bigelow of Anacortes, according to the report.

The collision was reported just before 5 a.m.

Jackson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bigelow was injured and transported to Island Hospital in Anacortes.

Both vehicles were totaled in the collision.
