A woman who stole $6.99 worth of food from an Oak Harbor grocery store is facing a felony burglary charge, according to court documents.

On Jan. 27, Oak Harbor police officers responded to a report of shoplifting at Haggen Food. A surveillance video showed that 56-year-old Elizabeth Thompson concealed the food in her bag, went past the check-out stand and walked out the door without paying, according to the police report.

Six days prior, Thompson had been arrested for criminal trespass for entering Haggen. Prior to that, she was issued a trespass warning.

Prosecutors charged Thompson in Island County Superior Court March 14 with burglary in the second degree.

Court documents indicate that she’s currently at a regional jail in Des Moines.

If convicted of the charge, Thompson could face from one to three months in jail under the standard sentencing range.
