Old wires caused a transformer to blow at the South Whidbey Primary Campus, canceling classes and forcing relocation of a school board meeting Wednesday.

Three wires that run underground will be replaced in a project costing  $15,000. The building is expected to be fully operational by Tuesday when the school district resumes business as normal after the Memorial Day weekend.

“It’s our cost, our problem,” said District Superintendent Jo Moccia.

The repairs and replacement wires will come from the district’s capital projects fund.
