Island County Fire District 3 will hold a special meeting next week to give the oath of office to new fire chief Rusty Palmer.

The meeting is 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11 at the Freeland Fire Station, 5535 Cameron Road, Freeland. An open house will follow.

Palmer was the fire chief of the Jackson Hole, Teton County, Wyo. fire department. He will replace FD3 Chief Dan Stout, who is retiring.
