Several paving projects are set to being in Langley this week, including a gravel section of Second Street that has reduced commercial parking.

According to Langley Mayor Larry Kwarsick, the gravel shoulder on the North side of Second Street across from Mo’s Pub & Eatery is expected to begin today.

Parking in that area has been closed for weeks due to an erosion problem that was clogging a storm drain. City officials had planned to solve the problem by grassing the area but Kwarsick said he promised pub owners to look for money in the budget to pave the shoulder and solve the problem for good.

“That should be paved by the end of the week,” Kwarsick said.

Also being paved this week are sections of North Cascade Avenue, from Second to Fourth streets, and Anthes Avenue, from Second to First streets. Grinding is set to begin on Thursday with paving finishing by Friday.
