Check out the “Cream of the Crop,†at this year’s 21st Annual School/Community Talent Show, coming Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18 to the South Whidbey High School auditorium.
The annual pre-Thansgiving event showcases talented performers from South Whidbey schools and the community. It promises to be bigger and better than ever with two completely different shows each beginning at 7 p.m.
Conductor of Fun Jim Freeman, as always, will be master of ceremonies at both shows.
Individuals and small groups will sing, dance, jump rope, recite poems, do karate, tell jokes, use puppets, perform short comedy routines and play piano and other instruments, from original numbers to classical or jazz.
Show producer Kimmer Morris promises great performances by local students and community members.
To make sure this South Whidbey tradition continues, Morris, the Intermediate School music teacher is looking for show sponsors to cover some of the upfront costs. In previous years, the South Whidbey School District has funded the project from its stipend budget.
“We still need sponsors. For a tax-deductible donation of $100 to South Whidbey Schools Foundation, each sponsor will get preferred seating for four (on the night of your choice), a special thank you during the show and the good old feeling of helping to do the right thing,†Morris said.
Sponsorships will cover the costs associated with the show, which include stipends for the producer and technical support for lighting and sound. Volunteers are also needed to help key board the program, hang posters and help back stage. Call Kimmer Morris for more information at 221-6808, ext. 4306.
Tickets are available at the door and cost $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors, lap children free. All proceeds go to the South Whidbey Schools foundation to benefit arts programs for students.
