Port of South Whidbey holds open house, special meeting

The Port of South Whidbey commissioners will convene for a special meeting in Freeland Wednesday.

The Port of South Whidbey commissioners will convene for a special meeting in Freeland Wednesday.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Nov. 6, in the big community room at Trinity Lutheran Church, 18341 SR 525. An informal workshop will take place shortly before, from  6:30 to 7 p.m.

The special meeting was called so the commissioners and staff can review and discuss the draft strategic plan and the draft comprehensive scheme. Both are long-range planning documents.

The meeting is open to the public but it is primarily for the commissioners and district staff. Public participation is not on the agenda.

The port is, however, holding an open house with its consultant, Makers Architecture and Urban Design, prior to the special meeting. It’s being held specifically for public input for the draft comprehensive scheme and begins at 4:30 p.m. in the same location.

Staff will be accepting written comments submitted by Nov. 15. To view a copy of the draft comprehensive scheme visit www.portofsouthwhidbey.com
