Power outage hits Oak Harbor

A power line fell in Oak Harbor Tuesday morning, leaving about 2,400 residents without power.

A power line fell from a feeder stretch onto a communication line in Oak Harbor Tuesday morning, leaving about 2,400 residents without power.

Puget Sound Energy had to cut power to repair the line, said spokesperson Gerald Tracy. At this time, the secondary cause is unknown, but it could be from technical issues, a fallen branch or wind.

The original outage began at 7:46 a.m. and was mostly restored by 9:24 a.m. As of 11 a.m., 83 residents are still without power. It was predicted to return by 2 p.m. at the latest.

Whether it’s stormy or sunny, power outages are never convenient and cause a “nick in the day,” Tracy said. Puget Sound Energy is working as quickly as possible to fix the problem.
