Trinity Lutheran Church’s annual lecture series will welcome professor Matt Skinner, a New Testament associate professor at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. and a blogger for the Huffington Post, as the guest speaker at two events this month.

Skinner will talk at 5 p.m. this Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday, May 16 in the main church sanctuary. His topic is “Where Did Our Bible Come From?”

An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church, Skinner has conducted research that focuses on the Gospels and the Book of Acts, the cultural world of the New Testament, and the Bible’s potential for shaping the theological imaginations of its readers.

His most recent book is “The Trial Narratives: Conflict, Power, and Identity in the New Testament,” an exploration of the trials of Jesus, Paul and other New Testament figures. He also helped create the website www.EnterTheBible.org and contributes frequently to www.WorkingPreacher.org.

The lecture series is free and open to the public.
