A rape reported last week in Clinton involved a teen assailant and a teen victim, a detective with the Island County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Law enforcement officials said Wednesday they were investigating a Sept. 9 call from a South Whidbey woman who said her daughter had been raped in a wooded area near Clinton.

Police offered additional details on the alleged attack on Thursday.

Detective Laura Price of the Island County Sheriff’s Office said that the rape allegation involved two juveniles, and that the assailant was not a stranger to the victim.

The alleged rape did not occur last week, but in July, Price said.

“It was reported last week when the parents found out about it,” she said.

Other details were not made available. The investigation is in the early stages, Price said.
