Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen leads in 10th District Senate race

Incumbent state Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen has a double-digit lead over her two primary challengers in early vote returns in the race for the Senate in the 10th Legislative District. Haugen had 53 percent of the vote with 12,408 votes of the 23,385 counted.

Her Republican opponent, Linda Haddon of Oak Harbor, had 42 percent of the vote, or 9,869 votes.

Third Party candidate Sarah Hart was making a strong showing for a political newcomer, with 1,108 votes, or 4.7 percent of the vote.

The two candidates with the most votes will advance to the general election in November.
