Sewers will be big issue at hearing

During a 7 p.m. public hearing, the Langley Planning Advisory Board will try to solidify some changes they want to make in how land within the city limits is used and regulated.

On Wednesday, the men and women planning Langley’s future will be presenting some of the changes they want to see.

During a 7 p.m. public hearing, the Langley Planning Advisory Board will try to solidify some changes they want to make in how land within the city limits is used and regulated. The changes, which will be written as amendments to the city’s comprehensive plan, got a start about a year ago when the city was told by the state to update its plan by September. The state later put that request off until 2005.

Jack Lynch, Langley’s planning official, said items of interest to the public will be some proposed changes to the city’s sewer ordinance and code changes for subdivisions that could make housing development more flexible. A group of city residents advocated for changes in the sewer ordinance to reduce hookup costs to home and business owners.

The public will be able to comment on all proposed comprehensive plan changes.
