SHERIFF’S REPORT | A grizzly bear, angry landlords and attacked chickens

The following are 9-1-1 reports to the Island County Sheriff’s Office, South Precinct. Thursday, November 27 7:56 a.m. — A caller on Highway 525 and Classic Road saw a bear on the side of the road grazing. Caller states she looked it up and it seems to be a grizzly bear, per Google. 10:04 a.m. — A caller at the Clinton Ferry Terminal got a report of a capsized boat in the area.

Thursday, November 27

7:56 a.m. — A caller on Highway 525 and Classic Road saw a bear on the side of the road grazing. Caller states she looked it up and it seems to be a grizzly bear, per Google.

10:04 a.m. — A caller at the Clinton Ferry Terminal got a report of a capsized boat in the area.

 

Saturday, November 29

2:52 a.m. — A caller on Sills Road advised a tree fell on their vehicle.

 

Sunday, November 30

1:19 p.m. — A caller on Bercot Road reported a dog attacked his chickens.

1:44 p.m. — A caller on Cultus Bay Road advised her boyfriend’s landlord is in her driveway honking his horn and yelling.

 

Tuesday, December 2

1:17 p.m. — A caller on Backswing Lane says a neighbor ripped out part of his metal fence and threw it into the road.

1:48 p.m. — A caller on Mutiny Bay and Bush Point roads reported that little dogs from a nearby house are always loose.

7:01 p.m. — A caller on East Harbor Road reported her mother was sold sleeping pills from a Freeland resident. She wants to get a restraining order.

 

Wednesday, December 3

11:50 a.m. — A caller reported a “huge” barrel of hay in the roadway on Scott Road.

7:42 p.m. — A caller on Highway 525 just north of Greenbank said they were passed by a non-island ambulance on a double yellow line. The vehicle was not using emergency lights, had its high beams on and was tailgating.

 

Thursday, December 4

10:41 a.m. — A caller on Bob Galbreath Road said their landlord is on the property and is screaming and yelling at her. When she pulled up, he was digging through her garbage.

2:05 p.m. — A caller from a Freeland grocery store reported possible drug manufacturers purchasing a lot of dry ice.

4 p.m. — A caller on Bercot Road wants law enforcement to know she might need help later. She’s having an issue with her 34-year-old daughter and wants her to move out. The caller is “not sure how this is going to go.”

 

Friday, December 5

8:27 a.m. — A caller on Olympic View Lane found a bunch of stolen mail and a backpack.

4:30 p.m. — A caller at a Freeland grocery store reported a shoplifter described as a man in a wheelchair, without legs.

10:35 p.m. — A caller on Smugglers Cove Road reported a male “hollering and singing.”

 

Saturday, December 6

11:49 a.m. — A caller on Lone Lake and Keller roads reported being hit by a car. He described the car and said the driver was Chris Locken.

5:09 p.m. — A caller on Bercot Road noticed tools have been taken from his property and that someone may have tried to start his tractor. It appears they also went through his boats.

 

Sunday, December 7

11:21 p.m. — A caller on Bercot Road who reported a prowl the day before said he’s now found “prowling tools” in a bag behind house.

11:32 p.m. — A caller on Fish Road found two knives with black residue on them. She advised she put the knives in a glass of water with soda in it.

 

Monday, December 8

5:36 p.m. — A caller on East Harbor Road reported a male employee for the post office was bit today and is being seen in the emergency room.

 

Tuesday, December 9

9:44 a.m. — A caller on East Harbor Road asked what is, and what is not allowed in reference to archery hunting.

2:42 p.m. — A caller at a Highway 525 business says a wood stove was brought in to the store yesterday, and that he has since received a call that the stove was stolen, and that the person involved may be coming in.
