Small kitchen fire in Langley home

A small fire that occurred in a Langley home Monday night is still under investigation, a South Whidbey Fire/EMS official says. Approximately 15 firefighters responded to reports of light smoke coming from a house on Mardell Drive. Firefighters entered the home and found a “very small” fire in the kitchen, Assistant Chief Jason Laughren said. The crew extinguished the fire quickly. Nobody was in the home at the time of the fire, Laughren said.

Nobody was in the home at the time of the fire, Laughren said.

A dishwasher and kitchen cabinets sustained minor damage, while there was also smoke damage throughout the house. The fire also ruptured a water line, which helped keep the fire in check, Laughren said.
