The South Whidbey School Board will consider spending about $200,000 to get almost $2 million in energy efficiency updates to its buildings.

Last year, the South Whidbey School District brought in Ameresco Quantum, a Renton-based company, to evaluate its energy use and potential savings.

On Wednesday, the school board reviewed Ameresco’s report, which included proposed reductions in electric energy by almost 50 percent.

“I’m very excited about the energy audit and moving forward with it,” said School Board Member Damian Greene.

The school board will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 7 to determine how it will use the firm’s findings.

South Whidbey School Board meetings are in the board room at the South Whidbey Primary Campus located at 5476 S Maxwelton Road.
