House of Prayer starts inheritance series
Is there an inheritance in your future? Every year the state of Washington gains thousands of dollars from unclaimed inheritances.
In a new series beginning April 11, Pastor Glen Horn of House of Prayer will explore the inheritance that Christ’s resurrection provides.
Pastor Horn will challenge thinking on what this inheritance looks like and what it means for the individual.
House of Prayer meets at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday.

Jim Freeman gives the Unity message
Jim Freeman is the speaker this Sunday for Unity of Whidbey.
Freeman will give the talk, “All We Are is Love.”
What does love mean to us? Where does it come from? Is it better to love or be loved? Is our love unconditional or conditional?
How do we feel about love? Join Freeman in a discussion of love and the power of love in our lives. Lynn Parr will share her musical expertise on the piano.

Topic is ‘Money: Idolatry or Sacrament?’
Money is surely one of our culture’s most prevalent and powerful idols. However, there is a liberating power in reframing money as a sacrament.
At the Sunday service for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island, Bill Graves will address this topic with the aid of Gregorian plainsong and humor as the congregation reflects upon stewardship of the Unitarian Universalist community and the benefits of a liberal religious presence on Whidbey Island.
Graves is a member of UUCWI, a candidate for the Unitarian Universalist ministry, and recently completed two years as intern minister of the Skagit Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

Readings from the Bible at Sunday service
The Christian Science service will answer the question “Are Sin, Disease, and Death Real?” with readings from the Bible and correlated passages from “Science and Health” at the service on Sunday, April 11.
Adam never woke up to the reality of God’s complete and perfect creation, but you aren’t condemned to such sleep and dreaming by God. “Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light” (Ephesians 5:14).
“Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man’s dominion over the whole earth” (“Science and Health”).

Congregation will present EvenSong
On the second Wednesday of each month, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island holds a quiet, contemplative candlelight evening gathering of song, meditation and readings.
This month’s focus is “Mindfulness — Living in the Moment.” Accompanied by harp music, this time of reflection is a way to enhance one’s personal spiritual practice.

SWCC explores God’s provision
The sermon topic Sunday at South Whidbey Community Church will be “Concerning God’s Provision” by Pastor Ron Wedeking, and based on Matthew 6:25-34.
Morning worship begins at 10 a.m. and is preceded by the adult learning forum at 9 a.m., with Stan Walker leading an inductive study into Paul’s Letter to the Philippians and Art Angst leading a study into the Gospel of Luke.
These are open classes to which everyone is invited.
There will also be a men’s breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Deer Lagoon Grange, where Pastor Wedeking will speak. All men are cordially invited.
