South Whidbey churches announce topics for Sunday services

South Whidbey churches have announced the topics for services this Sunday.

‘Wisdom: The Road to Knowing’ at Unity

Continuing with Unity of Whidbey’s March discussion of the power of Wisdom, Sunday’s speaker Jim Freeman will share his message “Wisdom: The Road to Knowing” based upon Biblical teachings as well as the writings of Charles Fillmore, Ernest Holmes and others.

Joining Freeman at the 10 a.m. service will be musicians Lynn Parr and Talia Marcus.

For additional information or directions, call 321-5030 or visit www.unityofwhidbeyisland.org.

‘Skeptics and True Believers’ at UUCWI

Rev. Kit Ketcham will address the question, “How do we know what to believe?” at the Sunday service for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island.

Many religions have a single Holy Book which guides them, but Unitarian Universalists gain wisdom from many sources. What is the most reliable?

The congregation will also celebrate the Vernal Equinox.

All are welcome.

Values-based children’s religious exploration classes and childcare will be provided. The service is at 10 a.m. at 20103 Highway 525, just north of Freeland.

Christian Science will explore ‘Matter’

Have you ever wondered what Jesus’ message is about allowing yourself to be subjected to today’s material laws about your health, your abilities or your needs? Surely Jesus intended for people to understand their real source of power when he instructed people to follow him in all his ways.

On Sunday, March 21, the Christian Science service explores the concept of “Matter” and how you can defeat the belief of limitations in your life.

The service begins at 10:30 a.m. at 15910 Highway 525.

Pastor Wenzek explains fasting

Sunday at South Whidbey Community Church, Pastor Darrell Wenzek will speak on the ever-popular topic, “The Practice of Fasting,” based on Matthew 6:16-18.

Morning worship begins at 10 a.m. and is preceded by the adult learning forum at 9 a.m., with Stan Walker leading an inductive study into Paul’s Letter to the Philippians and Art Angst leading a study into the Gospel of Luke. These are open classes where everyone is invited.
