South Whidbey churches announce topics for Sunday’s services

Churches in South Whidbey announce the topics for services on Sunday, June 12.

‘Embracing the Other’ at UUCWI

How do we communicate thoughtfully and respectfully with those holding different beliefs, while remaining true to our own convictions? At the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island service on Sunday, Rev. Kit Ketcham will explore this difficult dilemma.

The service is at 10 a.m. and all are welcome. Values-based children’s religious exploration classes and childcare will be provided. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation meets at 20103 Highway 525, just north of Freeland.

Sermon is on finding the love of God daily

Have you ever searched for something and then finally found it right in plain sight? Sometimes we feel we have to search for God or the love from God that the Bible promises: “The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life,” (Psalms 121:7, New Living Translation).

On Sunday, June 12, the Christian Science service focuses on “God the Preserver of Man” and how you can prove that “God is Love” in your day-to-day life in order to meet your daily needs.

All are welcome to this fulfilling service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at 15910 Highway 525.

‘One God, All the Time’ at Unity

Rev. Patty Becker will give the talk “One God, All the Time” at the Unity of Whidbey service on Sunday.

Becker will share the first of the five basic Unity principles which states that God is absolute good, everywhere present. Whether you are new to Unity, curious about Unity philosophy or a longtime Unity practitioner, this exploration is sure to provide spiritual food for thought and practical ways to incorporate the principles in your everyday life.

Music will be provided by Tadd CharetteNunn and Sam Glass will serve as platform assistant.

The service is 10 a.m. Sunday at Unity’s church at 5671 Crawford Rd. All are welcome.

A Course in Miracles group meets 3:30 to 5 p.m. Visit Unity of Whidbey’s website at  http://www.unityofwhidbeyisland.org for more information.

Stan Walker gives the SWCC message

Stan Walker will bring the message tomorrow morning at South Whidbey Community Church. His topic will be: “Being a Berean Christian: Do we understand the implications of what we are communicating?”

The writer Luke singled out Christians in the Macedonian city of Berea for praise, because they tested the truth of the Apostle Paul’s message by the touchstone of Scripture.

Sunday worship is from 10 to 11 a.m. and is preceded by an adult learning forum at 9 a.m. with Walker leading a study in the book of First Corinthians, and Rick Zapata leading a study in the book of Genesis: the life of the Patriarchs. These are open classes and everyone is invited.
