‘After the Crossing’ is the sermon topic

Sunday worship is from 10 to 11 a.m. and is preceded by an adult learning forum at 9 a.m. with Stan Walker leading a study in the book of First Corinthians, and Rick Zapata leading a study in the Book of Genesis: the life of Abraham.

‘The Power of Kindness’ at Unity

Rev. Joanna Gabriel will talk about “The Power of Kindness” at the Unity of Whidbey service on Sunday.

Join Gabriel in an exploration of the power of kindness, how it feels to give and receive, and the healing potential available. This awareness invites a closer look at the differences between contact and connection, an important distinction to consider as our social networking society grows.

Music will be provided by Tadd CharetteNunn, and Sam Glass will be the platform assistant.

After the service, a Heart Circle will meet. A Course in Miracles group meets from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

All are welcome. Visit http://www.unityofwhidbeyisland.org for more information.

Learn about Jesus and his teachings

With such an idea, Jesus Christ of Nazareth changed the world, bringing freedom not just from tyrannical humans but also from the tyranny of sin, sickness and death, from all mortal and material influences.

Today, many in the world carry the loads of material tyranny: sickness, financial constraints and fear, the drive for material possessions, and more. Also today, many are finding that Jesus’ teachings still offer freedom.

On Sunday, Feb. 27, the Christian Science service focuses on Christ Jesus and his teachings’ applicability to our lives today.  All are welcome. Services begin at 10:30 a.m. at 15910 Highway 525.

Talk is on ‘Sexuality and Spiritual Values’

Sexuality is a defining characteristic and essential life force of human beings, but our preconceived notions about it can limit our understanding of what sex, sexuality, gender, orientation and biology mean.

At the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island service on Sunday, Rev. Kit Ketcham will consider how our spiritual principles of justice, equity, compassion and a belief in the inherent worth of every person inform this issue.

All are welcome. Values-based children’s religious exploration classes and childcare will be provided.

The service is at 10 a.m. Check www.whidbey.com/uucwi for details.
