South Whidbey Fire/EMS is asking voters for a 15-cent levy lid lift on the ballot in November. The money will be used to maintain and replace emergency equipment, along with training for more than 75 volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians, according to a news release. Officials said the volunteer help saves taxpayers $1.15 million per year.

If approved, the levy rate would be 76 cents per $1,000 assessed property value.
