The South Whidbey School Board unanimously adopted a spending plan for the 2010-11 school year at its meeting Wednesday.

The $20.7 million budget include cuts of 9.36 full-time positions from the district’s certificated staff, 8.84 full-time jobs in the ranks of the classified staff, and two full-time jobs in the district’s administrative staff.

Employees who face the loss of jobs were notified earlier this year.

Next year’s budget is roughly $1.3 million less than the 2009-10 budget.

The spending cuts were made necessary by the continuing enrollment drop in the school district.

The district receives roughly $5,400 per student in education money from the state, and school officials expect a total of 122 fewer students next year.
