Reganne Brown was chosen as the new student representative on the South Whidbey School Board for the 2014-2015 school year.

The board heard from six students during their interview process on Wednesday, May 14, including: Macey Bishop, Emma Lungren, Anna Lynch, Kara Mead and Sophia Stoughton.

After more than one hour interviewing the candidates, the board retired into an executive session and emerged to unanimously choose soon-to-be junior Reganne to fill the vacant seat, currently held by outgoing senior Sydney Ackerman.

Director Linda Racicot said it was a rigorous competition and tough for the board members to make a decision.

“I’m proud of you all and I hope you take advantage to learn from this experience,” she said.

The will be the second year the board has included a student representative in meetings and workshops.
