Board members for the South Whidbey School District have a packed day planned for Wednesday, Oct. 12.

A board workshop is planned for 6:30 p.m., and directors will talk about the improvement plans for all five schools. The discussion follows recent news that some South Whidbey schools have failed to make adequate yearly progress under the federal No Child Left Behind Act.

Prior to workshop, the school board will visit the elementary school for an open dialog with staff and faculty from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m.

Then the board will examine an energy audit at 4:30 p.m. in the board meeting room at South Whidbey Primary Campus. The workshop will also be held in the board meeting room.

Before working on school improvement plans, the board and school directors will have a reception for board members Rich Parker and Leigh Anderson. Both are leaving after their terms end in November.
