A daytime burglary on South Whidbey drew a relatively large response from law enforcement Wednesday.

Three deputies with the Island County Sheriff’s Office, the Coupeville marshal and a Langley police officer responded when a resident saw two suspicious people enter a house on Bob Galbreath Road in Clinton just before 1 p.m..

The deputies immediately saw through windows that people were inside the house. After the suspects ignored orders to come out, deputies entered the house and arrested two people without incident, according to a deputy’s report on the case.

The suspects were identified as Aaron Nathan, 41, and Camilah Reeves, 43, the report states. A number of weapons were taken off Nathan, including a “push dagger.”

Investigators found that a large safe inside the house had been moved and had tool markings indicating someone had tried to open it, the report states. Two small safes and a .22-caliber rifle were missing.

The report states that a laundry basket full of property was staged by a garage door and a generator was moved outside of the garage.

In addition, the residence was ransacked, with dresser and desk drawers hanging open.

Nathan and Reeves appeared in Island County Superior Court Thursday. Judge Vickie Churchill found probable cause existed to believe they committed the crimes of residential burglary and malicious mischief in the third degree.

Deputy Prosecutor David Carman said neither of the defendants has ties to the community and that Nathan has an extensive criminal history.

The judge set bail for both defendants at $10,000.
