The race for the Position 3 seat on the Langley City Council will now start with a showdown in the Primary Election in August.

A third candidate, Jim Sundberg, filed as a candidate for the council seat on Wednesday afternoon.

Sundberg is currently the chairman of Langley’s planning advisory board, and recently volunteered to help write the “vote no” statement for the voters’ guide for Proposition 1, the proposal to change Langley’s government to the council-manager model and eliminate the position of an elected mayor. Prop. 1 is also on the August ballot.

Two other candidates are already in the race; Robin Adams, the leader of the group that fought the approval of the Langley Passage housing project, and Kathleen Waters, a Langley businesswoman and longtime property owner.

The two candidates with the most vote in the Primary Election will advance to November’s General Election.
